About this list

In Istanbul, a game over the board usually means a tournament. Clubs without rooms of their own hire space in shopping centres and cafés and run numbered series there: Ritim İstanbul in Maltepe hosts a rated series every one or two weeks, Torium in Esenyurt has a chess hall of the district representation on an upper floor, and V Metroway in Başakşehir, Piazza in Maltepe and Watergarden put on events of their own, many of them for children. Cafés in Kadıköy, Beşiktaş and Maltepe have hosted club tournaments, and the Tuzla district representation plays in a library hall inside a mall.

Casual play without a tournament is the gap in this list. A Kadıköy café whose name promises chess is known only from a directory review, and the card says it is unconfirmed. Entry goes through the organiser before a closing date, and rated events usually ask for a federation licence. The organiser’s page, usually the chess-results server, gives the next edition.
